How to extend Macbook display to iMac/Windows

 

Macbook's tiny size makes it a perfect choice for commute and travelling. However, sometimes the small screen may also make it not so convenient, especially when you want to share some content.

When you have an iMac or Windows desktop at hand, you can mirror macbook screen to the bigger display with the help of X-Mirage.

Why mirror one Mac to another?

Mirroring macbook display to imac gives you a larger screen but X-Mirage doesn't have any limitation on that. You can mirror any mac to another mac for sharing, instruction, comparison, testing, problem fixing etc.

X-Mirage is a powerful airplay receiver that works on Mac and Windows. It allows you to mirror iPhone/iPad/iPod touch/mac/android screen to any Mac and Windows PC.

First, please download and install X-Mirage on your iMac/Windows. Make sure all your devices are connected to the same wi-fi network. X-Mirage will turn it into an airplay receiver. If you want to extend macbook to Windows PC, install X-Mirage for Windows.

Step 1 Open System Preferences - Display

Check Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available.

Step 2 Click blow icon on the top right corner of your Macbook and choose your iMac from the list.

Now you will see the macbook screen on your iMac display. You can mirror multiple mac screen simultaneously.

To mirror mac to Windows, just select your Windows from above Airplay list. Any Windows installed X-Mirage will appear in the list as long as they are connected to the same wi-fi network.

X-Mirage for Mac runs on Mac OS X 10.6.0 or later and X-Mirage for Windows runs on Windows XP or later.
